Since 1993 Peter has been working full-time as a professional Music Director promoting new and unusual works alongside mainstream repertoire to great acclaim both in the UK and overseas.
He has appeared in many notable cathedrals throughout the UK and Europe, in famous churches such as St John's Smith Square, St Paul’s Covent Garden, and St James' Piccadilly, and concert halls which have included the Royal Albert Hall, Glyndebourne Opera House, and the Royal Festival Hall.
Peter’s energy and vision has transformed choirs and enabled individuals of all ages and abilities to discover the enjoyment and benefits that can be gained from experiencing live performance.
Peter began studying conducting at just 19 years of age whilst a student at the East Sussex Academy of Music. He graduated from Kingston University and was the winner of the 1993 conducting prize with a performance of Chabrier's España, under the guidance of Adrian Brown, a past student of Sir Adrian Boult. In 1995 Peter was selected for the British Reserve Conducting Prize/Seminar and in 1997 was awarded a scholarship to study with Danish conductor, Jesper Grove Jørgensen.
In 2000 he was selected for the London Symphony Orchestra / Nordell Conducting Masterclass and worked with the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Symphony Orchestra. He is Principal Conductor of the professional orchestra Surrey ProMusica and has worked on numerous occasions with Surrey Sinfonietta, Mardi Brass and the Camerata of London as well as with one of the leading chamber orchestras in Hungary, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra.
His ongoing commitment to Training & Development has resulted in the design, management, and implementation of growing numbers of specialist workshops, courses and projects which have included work in conjunction with Glyndebourne Education, the Orchestra of St Martin in the Fields, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the British Choral Institute, East Sussex Music Service, National Foundation for Youth Music, and a number of schools and colleges as well as a host of British composers including Jonathan Willcocks, Andrew Carter, Richard Blackford, Cecilia McDowall, Howard Blake, Paul Carr and Bob Chilcott.
In addition, Peter is responsible for having founded a number of organisations including Surrey ProMusica, Surrey Choral Festival, Lewes Arts Festival : Classical Music, Lewes Chamber Orchestra, and Castlegate Brass Ensemble.
His portfolio comprises successful associations with a diverse range of choral and orchestral promoters.
